We partnered with Google Inc., in 2014 to establish a 30 seater resource center in Tamale for our Girls In Tech (GTech) program. The Resource center was established to serve Junior high school girls from Wurushei a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The center was furnished with 30 computers with full internet access and an LCD projector. The beneficiary schools were Darul Hadis JHS, Wurushei Community Al-Bahadal JHS, Choggu Yapalsi M/A JHS, Bagabaga Dem. JHS “A”, Ridge “A” JHS, Bagabaga Dem. JHS “B” and Ridge “B” JHS.
The objectives of the program were to close the gender gap in the technology sectors as well as to turn girls from technology consumers into technology producers. Since the establishment of the Center over 500 girls were trained and empowered on coding and programming.
