Mobile 4 Life Project - Kumasi
Sponsor: Medic Mobile
Locations: Bebu & Aburaso – Ashanti Region
The Mobile 4 Life program aims to reduce the high mortality rate among pregnant women and infants in Ghana by using mobile phone solutions to improve the local healthcare system. This is achieved by equipping community health workers and pregnant women with mobile phones to send and receive important pregnancy and childbirth information in their own language via text and voice messaging.
Africa ICT Right partnered with Medic Mobile and the Methodist Health Directorate to implement the Mobile 4 Life project in the Methodist Hospital at Bebu and Aburaso in the Atwima Kwanoma District in the Ashanti Region.
AIR donated a laptop each to both health facilities to enable them register new pregnancies, track antenatal visits, flag a high-risk pregnancy and report deliveries and outcomes. AIR also organised a two-day workshop to train midwifes and community health workers in the two hospitals.
